Alyssa Rosenzweig led all of the Mesa open-source OpenGL/Vulkan driver work for enabling the Apple M1 and M2 graphics hardware under Linux. In her post yesterday announcing she was stepping away from the Asahi Linux efforts, she said she was moving on to her "next challenge" and linked to the Intel Xe HPG page without elaborating further.
Rosenzweig has now updated her [2]resume / CV and confirms she is now working at Intel. She is said to be working at Intel beginning this month on the open-source graphics drivers for Intel GPUs. OpenGL and Vulkan drivers to "improve gaming on Linux". Very interesting to see her joining Intel as her blog post yesterday didn't mention if she was actually working at Intel or rather one of the open-source consulting firms like Igalia or Collabora (her former employer) or even if her "next challenge" was a joke.
Alyssa Rosenzweig is extremely talented with her Mesa contributions over the years so it will be interesting to see what contributions she makes for enhancing the Intel graphics driver support on Linux. And in hiring Rosenzweig along with the other recent departures from Asahi Linux, the prospects of good Linux support for future Apple Silicon hardware is greatly diminished.
