Linux Sensor Monitoring Coming For The ASUS ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI

([Hardware] 3 Hours Ago ASUS-EC-Sensors)

For those interested in a high-end motherboard for AMD Ryzen 9000 / 8000 / 7000 series processors that is marketed for creators and equipped with high-end features, the ASUS ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI motherboard that retails for $500+ USD will soon see hardware monitoring support under Linux.

The ASUS ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI features dual USB4 ports, dual Ethernet (10 Gb + 2.5 Gb ports), 16 + 2 + 2 power stages, WiFi 7, and other top-end features for a modern AMD Ryzen desktop system. It does carry a high price tag though of around $540 USD.

If the price doesn't discourage you, the ASUS ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI will soon see hardware monitoring support under Linux. This motherboard is the latest being supported by the [1]ASUS-EC-Sensors driver for interfacing with the embedded controller on ASUS motherboards.

[2]This patch gets the CPU temperature, CPU package temperature, motherboard temperature, VRM temperature, additonal temperature sensor, and CPU fan speeds reported under Linux with this hardware monitoring "HWMON" driver.

That patch was picked up in hwmon-next and thus the ASUS ProArt X870E-CREATOR WIFI support is on track for premiering in the Linux 6.17 kernel in a few months. Separately, [3]this patch was also queued into hwmon-next for adding support to ASUS-EC-Sensors for the older ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-F GAMING motherboard.
