Ultra Ethernet Consortium Publishes UEC 1.0 Specification

([Linux Networking] 61 Minutes Ago Ultra Ethernet 1.0)

The Ultra Ethernet Consortium today published the UEC Specification 1.0 release. Nearly two years ago [1]the Ultra Ethernet Consortium was started by Intel, AMD, Meta, HPE, and others and hosted by the Linux Foundation for open and high performance networking with an emphasis on AI and HPC.

The Ultra Ethernet 1.0 specification had been [2]planning for a Q3-2024 release but now into Q2-2025, Ultra Ethernet UEC 1.0 was just released. The UEC 1.0 specification is focused on high performance, scalable, and interoperable solutions across all layers of the networking stack and with an emphasis on multi-vendor integration.

"UEC Specification 1.0 delivers a high-performance, scalable, and interoperable solution across all layers of the networking stack—including NICs, switches, optics, and cables—enabling seamless multi-vendor integration and accelerating innovation throughout the ecosystem.

The UEC specification is advancing industry-wide adoption by promoting open, interoperable standards that prevent vendor lock-in. With active implementations and compliance programs already in progress, UEC is paving the way for a unified and accessible ecosystem across the sector."

UEC delivers on modern RDMA for Ethernet and IP, open standards and interoperability, and end-to-end scalability.

If I kiss you, that is an psychological interaction.
On the other hand, if I hit you over the head with a brick,
that is also a psychological interaction.
The difference is that one is friendly and the other is not
so friendly.
The crucial point is if you can tell which is which.
