Box64 v0.3.6 Brings Better AVX Handling, Volatile Metadata For Windows Executables

([Free Software] 92 Minutes Ago Box64 v0.3.6)

Just a few days after the [1]FEX 2506 release for that open-source emulator enabling x86_64 binaries to run on ARM64 (AArch64) hosts, Box64 is out with its newest feature update for this open-source project with similar goals.

Box64 continues progressing as a user-space Linux x86_64 emulator that targets not only ARM64 but also RISC-V 64-bit and LoongArch CPU architectures too. Box64 with its native system library integration also allows many games and Windows apps via Proton / Wine to run too.

Box64 v0.3.6 brings support for building the WowBox64 wowbox64.dll library directly from the Box64 source repository for helping with integration for Hangover, the Wine-based downstream that can leverage Box64 and other emulators for running cross-architecture.

Box64 v0.3.6 also now allows the use of Volatile Metadata within Microsoft Windows executables for Wine x64. Leveraging the Volatile Metadata support allows only applying strong memory ordering when needed and can help with overall performance.

Today's Box64 release also brings better x87 / SSE / AVX handling, wrapping more libraries, and a number of ARM64 / LoongArch64 / RISC-V RV64 targeted fixes. Plus a number of other smaller patches all in the name of helping out the performance.
