Hardware Monitoring For More ASUS Motherboards & Additional Zen 5 CPUs In Linux 6.16

([Hardware] 6 Hours Ago Linux 6.16 HWMON)

The numerous hardware monitoring "HWMON" subsystem updates were merged to [1]Linux 6.16 on Tuesday for further enhancing the desktop hardware reporting capabilities and more with this next kernel release.

The ASUS Embedded Controller (EC) Sensors driver for Linux 6.16 brings support for the MAXIMUS VI HERO and ROG Z690 Formula motherboards. The MAXIMUS VI HERO motherboard is for Intel Haswell processors while at least the [2]ASUS ROG Z690 Formula is for more recent Intel 12th and 13th Gen Core processors. With the new Linux kernel version you can enjoy sensor monitoring support on these ASUS motherboards thanks to the asus-ec-sensors driver additions.

Also notable with this pull request is adding CPU temperature monitoring support in the k10temp driver for AMD Zen 5 CPUs in the range of Family 1Ah from 0x40 to 0x4f model IDs for various desktop CPUs.

The HWMON subsystem also added drivers for a KEBA fan controller, KEB battery monitoring controller, and MAX77705 IC. The Dell SMM driver has also tacked on support for the Dell OptiPlex 7050.

More details on these hardware monitoring driver updates for Linux 6.16 via [3]this pull that yesterday was merged to Git.

COMPUTER SCIENCE
Inside your desk you'll find a listing of the DEC/VMS operating
system in IBM 1710 machine code. Show what changes are necessary to convert
this code into a UNIX Berkeley 7 operating system. Prove that these fixes are
bug free and run correctly. You should gain at least 150% efficiency in the
new system. (You should take no more than 10 minutes on this question.)
