Microsoft's Azure Linux Preps For NVIDIA GB200 Servers

([Microsoft] 6 Hours Ago Azure Linux 3.0.20250521)

Microsoft on Tuesday released a new version of Azure Linux, their in-house Linux distribution that is used for a variety of purposes from the Azure cloud to powering other Microsoft services.

Azure Linux 3.0.20250521 is the latest version of Microsoft's in-house Linux operating system. Azure Linux 3.0.20250521 brings a number of fixes and as usual a wide variety of package updates to address different security issues. In addition a number of packages like Lua, Python, Perl, Golang, and others have also seen some minor software updates.

Catching my eye among the mostly small maintenance items are a number of kernel configuration updates for Azure Linux 3.0 on AArch64 in catering to NVIDIA GB200 and GB200F servers.

A number of Azure Linux AArch64 kernel configuration changes were made to follow NVIDIA's Grace configuration tuning guide for the kernel recommendations for running on the NVIDIA GB200/GB200F Grace-Blackwell servers. Those changes have been [1]merged so Azure Linux should be better suited now for running on these newest NVIDIA servers.

The new Azure Linux update also pulls in the NVIDIA 570.133.20 driver for newer CUDA support.
