Easter doesn't get in the way of Linus Torvalds' weekly kernel release regiment: Linux 6.15-rc3 is now available for testing the latest kernel fixes ahead of the stable [1]Linux 6.15 kernel release coming around the end of May.
Merged this week for Linux 6.15-rc3 were [2]better AMD Zen 5 CPU microcode protections with the SHA checking extended to those newest AMD processors, [3]the Intel Bartlett Lake ID being added to open the door on future patches depending upon it, [4]thermal control support for more Dell and Alienware systems , and [5]optimism around the future of the Apple HFS/HFS+ file-system drivers . Plus various other minor bug/regression fixes throughout the massive kernel codebase.
Linus Torvalds wrote of Linux 6.15-rc3 in today's [6]release announcement :
"There's absolutely nothing of huge note here as far as I can tell. Just a fair number of small fixes all over the place - the biggest changes are to fix some ublk driver issues, and the related selftests for same. The rest is generally one- or few-lines.
So everything looks fine, and while the merge window was fairly big, that doesn't seem to have resulted in any particular pain. At least so far. Knock wood.
So a happy Easter Sunday to everybody (or a regular Sunday in case you don't care, and don't do the "eat odd traditional Finnish foods" like we do here in our family)."
There are [7]many exciting features and changes with Linux 6.15 that will be debuting as stable in just about one month's time.
