Sven Peter continues working on upstreaming more of the Apple Silicon hardware support where relevant and possible. This is not only about the newer M-Series Apple SoCs but also the Apple SoCs powering devices like the iPad, iPod, and iPhone.
With today's batch of Apple DT updates there are now touchbar screen nodes added for the Apple M1 and M2 platforms. This comes with the [3]Apple Touch Bar display drivers set to be mainlined for Linux 6.15 after being queued this past week into DRM-Next. Thus the new touchbar screen nodes now added to the relevant DT files for the supported Apple M1/M2 devices.
The other focus with today's DT updates is adding backlight nodes for the Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices. The backlight nodes are added to the Apple s5l8960x, t7000, s800-0-3, t8010, and t8015 DTs.
Sven wrote in the [4]pull request :
"This is our final pull request for Apple SoC device tree updates for v6.15 based on the previous one.
Drivers for the M1/M2 touchbar screen and pre-M1 (iPhone, etc.) backlight have been merged since then and this batch includes the required device tree nodes. Both drivers and these commits have been part of -next for at least a few days. The corresponding drivers are scheduled to be included in the 6.15 merge window as well."
The [5]Linux 6.15 merge window will be opening up toward the end of March.
