CachyOS Optimizing More Packages With PGO For Up To ~10% Better Performance

([Arch Linux] 2 Hours Ago CachyOS September 2024)

The Arch Linux based CachyOS operating system that is known for pursuing aggressive performance while still delivering a nice Linux desktop experience is out with its September 2024 release.

CachyOS has begun optimizing more packages with compiler Profile Guided Optimizations (PGO) for delivering up to 10% better performance in cases like LLVM/Clang. Node.js, SVT-AV1, Ripgrep, and more are also seeing benefits from leveraging PGO optimizations.

CachyOS has also been picking up more patches from Intel's Clear Linux for squeezing out better performance. CachyOS has also been transitioning from Zlib to Zlib-ng, GCC fixes for AMD Zen 5 tuning, and various other fixes and tuning improvements.

Isn't it embarrassing when you have to go to the drugstore for some
"special items", and when you're checking out, the cashier looks at you
like, "oh, I know what YOU'RE doing tonight..."

Yep, that cashier read all the signs... canned chicken soup, TheraFlu,
Halls, NyQuil, the bigass bottles of OJ and grapefruit juice... he knew
and I knew that I had a date with the teevee and a down comforter. Awww
yeah.
